Since then the country has struggled to find stability — with violence continuing and fears that Al Qaeda’s Yemeni offshoot is benefiting from the power vacuum. On Sunday the President released a statement calling for an end to protests to oust him and urging dialogue during the holy month of Ramadan. Raja Althaibani is a Yemeni American journalist and has recently returned from Yemen where she has spent the previous four months reporting on the Arab uprising there.
