The Tribeca Film Festival kicks off next week in New York. The festival, known to most for its celebrity backer, Robert De Niro, is in its tenth year and has become a showcase for independent film. It also features films by young people – students who are nurtured and educated through the Tribeca Film Institute. Jordan Campbell, a high school senior, is one of the filmmakers behind “Take Out.” The short narrative tells the story of two people, two cultures, and food. And Thomas Bencivengo, a high school junior, is one of the filmmakers behind “The Iron Triangle,” documentary which looks at a community in Queens that’s being displaced due to a city redevelopment plan. Additionally, they both participated in the making of a short film – a valentine to New York – called “City Scapes.”
