Kim Jong-un, son of recently deceased North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il, was identified Monday morning as the head of a top decision-making body of the ruling Workers’ Party. The position gives Kim authority of political as well as military matters within North Korea. On Saturday, state media referred to Kim as “supreme leader” of North Korea’s armed forces, and said the military’s top commanders had pledged their loyalty to him.
