There are close to 50 million Americans without health insurance – and millions more who are underinsured or can’t afford their deductibles. The health care crisis is bad enough in some parts of rural America that a relief organization called Remote Area Medical, created to provide free health care to poor people in the developing world, is today doing the bulk of its work within our borders.
