Anti-government protesters are gathering in the Thailand’s provinces and making their way to Bangkok on Sunday. The “Red Shirts,” as they are called, support Thailand’s exiled former prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, who was ousted in a military coup in 2006.
The protesters say their goal is to topple the current government and are calling for new elections. Thailand has mobilized around 40,000 security personnel ahead of the planned demonstrations. BBC reporter, Vaudine England, joins us from Thailand to explain the situation.
