Today, the country which took the name of the Jordan uses little of the river’s water as Israel and Syria use much of the river from dams and diversions upstream. Many in the nation of Jordan had hoped the situation would improve after King Hussein signed the peace treaty with Israel in 1994. But as Living On Earth’s Sandy Tolan reports, many Jordanians still feel they do not have enough water.
