Libyan Revolution: Update from Benghazi

The Takeaway

Pro-Democracy demonstrators have taken over the eastern Libyan city of Bengahazi. There is no evidence of Col. Gadhafi’s forces in the city. The BBC’s Kevin Connolly describes the scene, where 20-30 young men are sitting atop a tank, which appeared to be abandoned by Gadhafi’s forces. The city seems securely in anti-government hands, he says, speaking to the BBC’s Julian Marshall. Although they have the city under their control, the anti-government protesters are still taking to the streets as a “reminder to the watching world that this part of Libya has slipped out of Gadhafi’s control.”
