Jules Verne’s take on Icelandic glaciers
(What is the name of this glacier?) it means �snowy mountain glacier.� I can see it out my window. I don’t think it can be much closer. (Are you anticipating tourists?) Yes, a lot from France. A lot of them are looking for an opening at the top, but I think that’s inspired by an underground entrance from a cave. (When Verne wrote the book in the 1860s, was he describing that entrance?) No, I don’t think he came to Iceland. He had read a journal from someone who had traveled here. everything is accurate except the entrance at the top of the glacier. (How many visitors to your hotel have come from the book or the movie?) Not many from the movie, I think people are attracted to the area and the glacier on its own attracts people.
