Joseph Cedar is a former member of the Israeli army. When called back into reserve duty in 2001, he refused to serve – and was tossed into military jail. There he began writing a screenplay that became a powerful war film called Beaufort. Beaufort won the 2007 Best Director award at the Berlin Film festival. Now it’s an Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Film. Joseph Cedar is on Fair Game with Faith Salie to discuss it.
