We’re looking for some ocean-front property for today’s Geo Quiz. Actually it’s an island nation made up of nearly 1200 islands.

They’re in the Indian Ocean — to the south-west of India. This is the lowest country in the world — just 5 feet above sea level on average.

And sea levels, according to climate scientists, are rising. So, these islands could be submerged by 2050. Some islanders are already preparing to migrate.

Others are building sea walls:

“The tricker question that the government and people are trying to wrestle with is — Where is this all going? Is this just a defensive action? So we can live here a few more decades hopefully? What’s the future for their culture?”
