NASA is set to launch the Kepler space telescope tonight. Its mission is to answer a question. Not the Geo Quiz question — but another question that’s long puzzled astronomers.

Is Earth the only habitable planet in our galaxy? Are there other planets like ours out there in the Milky Way? The Kepler space telescope, centerpiece of the Kepler MISSION, may help answer that question.

That’s the hope. Now here’s the quiz. Who was Kepler? And where was he born? Kepler’s said to have been introduced to the ideas of Copernicus during college and he delighted in them.

He was a contemporary of Shakespeare… And he served as the imperial mathematician in Prague for a few years. Think fast —you’ll have to answer this one at the speed of light.

For our Geo Quiz we wanted to know the birthplace of the astronomer Johannes Kepler. He was born in Weil der Stadt in southern Germany in 1571. NASA is launching a space mission named after Kepler tonight. The World’s David Leveille reports.
