For today’s Geo Quiz we’re going west.

We’re looking for a town about 170 miles west of Denver.

Find where the Crystal and Roaring Fork rivers meet, and you’re not far from this Rocky Mountain hideout.

Mount Sopris towers above Main Street. That makes this town a great base camp for hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing.

It’s also home to a growing number of Latino immigrants. They’re drawn here by the construction and service jobs at nearby ski resorts. In fact, “Garcia’s Cafe” is one of the first businesses you come to as you drive into this town on Highway 133.

We were looking for a town in the Colorado Rockies, not far from Aspen.

The area’s known more for ski resorts than Mexican grocery stores.

But that’s changing, as Latino immigrants are drawn here by construction and service jobs.

The answer is Carbondale, Colorado, where Garcia’s Cafe is a popular hangout for the newcomers.
