Egypt’s generals have a curious view of democracy.

They are insisting that a military-appointed panel should write the country’s new constitution, not newly-elected parliamentarians.

That prompted a boycott announcement by the Muslim Brotherhood on Thursday.

The Muslim Brotherhood dominated the election held last week and want the Parliament to write a new charter.
