Cairo did not sleep last night, the city turned into a huge party. This man played hooky from work to bring his entire family and said he wanted to find the largest number of people to watch with. Soccer isn’t a man thing either. This woman and her daughter came here to watch the game too. This woman says it’s her national duty to watch the team. These people say there’s an immense pride when the team scores a goal. This woman says soccer is important for Egypt because it lifts them out of the rat race, the daily grind. Nearby these men shout and curse at a TV screen when they’re watching the second half of the game. When the team scores a fourth goal, the neighborhood becomes ecstatic. To this man soccer isn’t just a game, it’s a language. If Egypt wins on Sunday they’ll win for a record sixth time.
