A Closer Look at France’s Burqa Ban

The Takeaway

In just a few days, a new law goes into effect in France, banning any veils that cover the face. Effectively a “burqa ban,” the law was passed last fall by the French senate with a vote of 246 to 1. Nihal Zeidy is a Muslim French citizen who’s been living in the U.S. for the past 13 years. Her mother and other Muslim family members still live in France. She is opposed to the ban.
