A moment of silence marks 12th anniversary of September 11

As in years past, names will be spoken, wreaths will be laid, and a moment of silence will be observed for the 12th anniversary of 9/11 and the people who died that day.

There will be a moment of silence observed in Washington, D.C., at the White House, and in New York City at ground zero.

Relatives of those who died in 2001 will recite the names of their loved ones at the 9/11 memorial plaza, according to the Associated Press. 

Following last year's decision, no politician will speak, and that includes out-going NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

There will also be tributes and memorial services held at the Pentagon and at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, PA, where one of the planes crashed.
