Singer Bobby Brown turns self in for DUI

GlobalPost

R&B singer Bobby Brown has turned himself in for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, said the Associated Press

His lawyer said the 44-year-old vocalist, formerly with the group New Edition, surrendered to a  Los Angeles courthouse on Wednesday and could be handed a 55-day prison sentence, reported AP

However, the sherriff's office said due to overcrowded jails and Brown's good behavior, the singer might not spend more than nine days in jail, reported the Los Angeles Times, citing local sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore.

This is Brown's second DUI in less than a year, said AP. He is a widower following the death of his late wife, the singer Whitney Houston.
