Hundreds of small crosses bearing a poppy have been planted in a Field of Remembrance in a tribute to British servicemen and women who have lost their lives in conflict.
Around the world, veterans are being honored in Remembrance Day and Veterans' Day ceremonies.
Remembrance Day, also called Armistice Day, commemorates soldiers who have lost their lives serving, and is held on November 11th in Commonwealth countries to pay homage to the end of World War One, which officially ceased "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month," in 1918.
Veterans' Day is the American counterpart, and celebrates "the bravery and sacrifice of all US veterans," according to Military.com.
