Supreme Court Judge murdered in Nepal capital

A Supreme Court judge in Nepal under investigation for corruption has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the capital city of Kathmandu.
According to the BBC, gunmen on a motorbike opened fire on Rana Bahadur Bam while he was being driven to work during morning rush hour.
Bam died in hospital, while his bodyguard sustained serious injuries to his neck and chest, the Himalayan Times reports.

Katmandu police spokesman told the Agence France Presse that Bam “succumbed to multiple bullet wounds in his armpit. We will interrogate the [judge’s] driver to find out more.”
According to the Associated Press, Bam was alleged to have taken bribes from criminals in exchange for releasing them with light sentences and fines. The case is still under investigation by Nepal’s Judiciary Council.
