An "eligible bachelor" on a popular Chinese dating show has become a suspect in a 13-year-old murder inquiry.

Police in the northeastern Chinese city of Jilin arrested the "Happy League" show contestant after an anonymous caller tipped them that he closely resembled alleged killer Wu Gang, the AP reports.

Wu, 39, is wanted for stabbing a man to death outside of a restaurant in Jilin 13 years ago.

He had gone by the name Liu Hao and said on the show that he was a music teacher, wooing the audience with a song-and-dance routine — specifically a "high-energy running man dance to techno music," the AP reports.

A woman on the show picked Wu (or Hao) over seven other men.
