Michael is a freelance journalist based in Mexico City. He was born in Columbia, Mo., and has lived in the U.S., Northern Ireland, Spain, Venezuela and Mexico. He has worked for the Associated Press in Mexico City, as well as Newsweek International and The New York Daily News. His writing has also appeared in The Washington Post and The Brooklyn Rail. Michael holds a B.A. in philosophy and Spanish from the University of Chicago and a dual M.A. in journalism and Latin American studies from NYU.
