After the murders of nine African Americans by a white supremacist in Charleston, South Carolina, national politicians across the political spectrum called for the removal of the Confederate battle flag from public buildings. The South Carolina state legislature ultimately decided to take their flag down permanently, and other states followed suit. Even big retailers stopped selling Confederate-flag-themed merchandise. But, what comes next? Should something replace it?
