High on the list of priorities at this year’s Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species is the Atlantic blue fin tuna and 8 species of shark, prized for their fins to make the Chinese delicacy shark fin soup.
Tanking Tuna
Bluefin tuna are in rapid decline. Scientists estimate that populations have decreased by over 90 percent over the last 50 years, and they warn that if overfishing continues, the iconic Bluefin will be a distant memory.
