Brokeback Mountain

Studio 360

This new “gay cowboy” movie stars Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall as two young ranch hands who meet in the summer of 1963 in Wyoming herding sheep and begin a 20 year love affair. It’s based on a short story by Annie Proulx — but the screenplay was written by Larry McMurtry, the great novelist of the American West (Lonesome Dove, Last Picture Show). McMurtry and his co-writer and wife, Diana Ossana, talk with Kurt about the film.
