Todd Palin endorses Newt Gingrich for president

Todd Palin, husband of Sarah Palin, is endorsing Newt Gingrich for president, ABC News reported.

"He's going to be speaking out on behalf of my candidacy and I really appreciate that," Gingrich said of Palin at a Rotary Club event in Nashua, NH, USA Today reported.

Palin said he has yet to speak to Gingrich or anyone from his campaign, but he still respects the former House speaker for “what he went through in the 1990s” and during his run for vice president, ABC News reported.

After announcing Palin would back him during his run for the Republican seat, CNN reported that Gingrich tweeted, "Honored to be endorsed by Todd Palin. President Obama has failed. We need a Bold Reagan Conservative in the WH."

Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor and John McCain’s Republican running mate in the 2008 campaign, has yet to endorse a candidate.

It is still unclear whether Palin will actually campaign with Gingrich. Gingrich’s campaign spokesman, RC Hammond, said he doesn’t know what Sarah Palin’s response will be, MSNBC reported.

“We look at the endorsement for exactly what it is: one Reagan-conservative supporting another Reagan-conservative,” Hammond said. “It shows that people don’t want a status-quo nominee. They want someone with big ideas who can change Washington.”
