As polls close in New Hampshire, Romney wins

Mitt Romney has won the New Hampshire primary, as voters turned out in record numbers.

According to early exit polls, CNN is reporting that Romney received about 36 percent of the vote, with Paul receiving 23 percent and Huntsman 18 percent. Gingrich and Santorum came in with 10 percent and Perry with 1 percent, according to the exit polls.

"Tonight we celebrate. Tomorrow we go back to work," Romney said.

So far, it seems he is the Republican nominee who will go head to head President Obama in the November election, and he spoke that way, calling Obama "a failed president," Romney asked "the good people of South Carolina to join the good citizens of New Hampshire to make 2012 the year he (Obama) runs out of time," according to CNN.

All six remaining Republican candidates have said they will go on to the next primary in South Carolina.

250,000 voters were expected to turn out for the New Hampshire primary on an unseasonably warm winter day, Deputy Secretary of State David Scanlan told CNN.
