Sometimes the demands of modern life conflict with unmodern religious traditions.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that a reverend has created a service to help time-strapped Chirstians get their forehead crossed for Ash Wednesday.
Reverend Patricia Anderson Cook, of the Mt. Healthy United Methodist Church, will be administering the prayers and ashes in the parking lot of the church from 5 to 6 PM today. "We have two entrances and one exit,” Cook said to the Enquirer, “So we should be able to do this fairly quickly.”
In addition to an ashy cross, Cook will also give drivers a lenten booklet with prayers and a brochure for the church.
Cook said she does not think people should view the service as a "drive-by," but rather a "drive-through."
“Some people are very busy, and some people get a little intimidated walking into a church, this is for them," she said.
The ashes will be given tonight at 7612 Perry Street in Mt. Healthy, Ohio
