Missing teen’s body found on Queen’s estate

Police identified remains found on Queen Elizabeth’s estate as those of a missing 17-year-old Latvian girl, CNN reported on Sunday.

DNA testing helped identify the remains as those of Alisa Dmitrijeva, said Norfolk police.

"We would like to identify people who may have worked in that area or were involved in organizing or running any specific events that may have taken place," Detective Chief Inspector Jes Fry said.

A member of the public out walking a dog made the discovery on New Year’s Day near the village of Anmer in Norfolk county.

The girl had been missing from her home in eastern England since August, the Washington Post reported.

Family members used Facebook in an attempt to locate her and, in December, police offered a $7,700 reward for information leading to her return.

"I should add we are still trying to establish any activity which took place on or around the site during the time frame of the end of August to the end of September 2011," Fry told BBC.

Foul play is suspected, police said, adding it was "highly unlikely" shed died from natural causes. Family members issued a news release saying they were devastated, BBC said.

At nearly 31 square miles, Sandringham Estate is one of two popular with members of the Royal Family as a traditional Christmas destination. Part of the estate is park open to the public. The location the body was found is also popular for pheasant and partridge shooting.
