Grace van Cutsem, royal frowning bridesmaid, makes a splash

An image of an adorable — frowning — young bridesmaid at Friday's royal wedding has become one of the iconic photographs of the event.

The bridesmaid put on a scowl and held her hands up to her ears, presumably to block out the noise from the boisterous crowd, as she stood on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after the wedding service of Prince William and his wife, Duchess of Cambridge, previously Kate Middleton.

The girl is Prince William's goddaughter, 3-year-old Grace van Cutsem. She is the daughter of Lady Rose Astor and Hugh van Cutsem. And according to YahooNews! she is the great-great-great-granddaughter of William Waldorf Astor, a lawyer and politician from New York who founded the Waldorf Hotel.

Photographs of Grace in her less than thrilled look, just as Prince William and Kate locked lips, have become some of the most published photographs of the event.

Another less adorable and more gorgeous member of the bridal party also made an impact. Kate's sister, Pippa, who was the maid of honor, dazzled royal wedding watchers in her own white Alexander McQueen gown.

"Gliding out of Westminster Abbey on the arm of a very chuffed-looking Prince Harry, Kate’s little sister, Pippa Middleton, 27, was a scene-stealing, almost treasonable sight," states the Daily Beast.
