China: student executed after hit-n-run

The music student who injured a woman with his car last October and then returned to stab her to death has been executed in China.

Chinese media report that Yao Jianxin was put to death in Xi'an on Tuesday for murder. Yao caused a nationwide stir last year when he returned to the scene of his hit-and-run accident to stab the victim, a young waitress, to death. Yao later said he thought the woman would make endless demands of he and his family if she had lived. Yao's is one of the spate of cases in recent years of Chinese drivers apparently intentionally killing accident victims in order to avoid ongoing medical bills. The cases have raised concerns about a segment of Chinese society in decline.
