“Vampire” bites face of elderly man in Florida

"I'm a vampire and I'm going to eat you."

Police in St. Petersburg, Florida say that's what 22-year-old Josephine Smith told 69-year-old Milton Ellis during an attack that left him with "chunks of flesh missing from his face, lips and arm," according to Central Florida News 13.

The St. Petersburg Times reports that Ellis met Smith just a little while earlier, after she was dropped off by a relative at a Shell station. She was trying to call another relative to come pick her up. Ellis — who uses a motorized wheelchair — invited Smith to wait with him outside a nearby vacant Hooters restaurant. He eventually fell asleep.

He woke up with Smith on top of him, but managed to escape to the Shell station and call police.

Police found Smith [outside the Hooters], half naked and covered in blood, but uninjured. They said she had no idea what happened or why her clothes were off. Ellis said she was dressed when he last saw her, police said.

Smith was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on an elderly person.

Central Florida News 13 reports that she told police she had no recollection of the attack.
