Google doubles down on Asia

Google is planning to invest $200 million in three new "data centers" — think large buildings full of processors — that will be built in Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong, according to the Wall Street Journal.
This means that anyone in Asia with a Gmail account — or anyone Googling movie showtimes — will see faster response times. Internet use in Asia is skyrocketing, according to a Google representative speaking to PC World, and the new data centers will "provide faster and more reliable access to Google's services."
Google's Asia gambit will increase its number of data centers dramatically. The tech giant currently mans six centers in the U.S. as well as two in Europe.
