Earthquake hits off Mexico

A shallow earthquake struck off Mexico's Pacific coast early Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

CNN reports that the 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck only 3.1 miles deep. There were no reports of damage or injuries.

The Mexico earthquake struck about 206 miles from Cabo San Lucas and 260 miles from Puerto Vallarta; both are popular tourist destinations.

A tsunami warning or advisory for the earthquake has not been issued, the Associated Press reports.
