These photographs show the crash that killed IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon Sunday. Wheldon, who was a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, died Sunday after his race car crashed into a track fence during a 15-car pileup at a race in Las Vegas.
Wheldon's car had no time to brake or steer out of the crash zone and ended up flying over another vehicle, hitting a fence and ultimately bursting into flames.

Sky News reports that the night before Wheldon's crash, his fellow drivers expressed concern that the track was too fast and crowded.
Wheldon, described by the New York Times as "a popular and congenial race-car driver from England," was 33, married to Susie, with two children, Sebastian, 2, and 6-month-old Oliver.
