Ugandan police are turning their cheek to the many cases of child sacrifice, doing little to prevent future victims from the ritual thought to bring wealth and good health, a BBC investigation has found.
A major report released by the charity Jubilee Campaign has stated approximately 900 Ugandan children have been sacrificed by witch doctors for profit, BBC reports. The ritual became popular about three years ago, and has re-emerged alongside a jump in Uganda’s economy.

"Child sacrifice has risen because people have become lovers of money. They want to get richer," said Pastor Peter Sewakiryanga of the Kyampisi Childcare Ministries church, to the BBC.
Mutilated children’s bodies have been discovered along roads. Allan, a nine-year-old boy, was found mutilated nearby his village, but survived the sacrifice. The child’s skull was sliced with a machete, damaging part of his brain, along with his neck, in an attempt to behead him, the BBC reports. The boy, also castrated, was in a coma for one month before waking up.
