What's an election without political satire?
With Argentina's presidential election coming up next month, two artists created a series of ironic portraits of Argentine politicians.
"The Kingdom of Bolonquia" exhibit, on display now in Buenos Aires, aims to recreate the most relevant moments and personalities since Argentina's return to democracy in 1983 — but with a humorous twist.
It includes sculptures of former presidents Raul Alfonsin, Carlos Menem and Fernando de la Rua, reports Clarin. Menem is represented as Loius XIV, the Sun King. Former President Eduardo Duhalde appears as a Renaissance cardinal.
Current President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner is depicted as the Goddess Nefrititis, the god of eloquence.
There are 20 sculptures, five paintings and a collage of acrylic, cement, clay and oils.
