Would-be thief dressed as Spider-Man arrested after police chase

A man dressed as Spider-Man proved to be a villain rather than a superhero when he allegedly tried to steal a woman's purse in California.

The Merced Sun-Star reported Daniel James Bradley, 22, was arrested after a foot pursuit by police.

When officers asked him why he was wearing a Spider-Man costume, Bradley reportedly explained the costume was part of his disguise.

According to a police report, Bradley approached the female victim, 24, last Friday and demanded, “Give me your purse.” the Smoking Gun reported.

The woman, who thought Bradley was armed with a gun, fled and screamed for help.

It was then that police and witnesses gave chase and apprehended the man.

Bradley was charged at the Merced County Jail on suspicion of attempted robbery. He was held on $65,000 bail.
