Woman gives birth days after being shot, set on fire

A Detroit woman who was kidnapped, shot and set on fire over the weekend gave birth Tuesday morning to a baby boy, police said.
Latonya Bowman's son was delivered via an emergency cesarean section. Hospital administrators have not released information on the conditions of the 22-year-old woman or her baby, Warren Deputy Police Commissioner Louis Galasso told the Royal Oak Daily Tribune.

The child's father and another man were expected to be arraigned later Tuesday on attempted murder charges, The Associated Press reported.
Police told the AP that the second man abducted Bowman while she was dropping her ex-boyfriend off after a night out. The man bound her in tape, doused her in lighter fluid and set her on fire.

Police said he then shot her and fled while she played dead.
Bowman eventually was able to free herself and drive to her mother's house on Detroit's east side, the Detroit News reported.
Investigators believe Bowman's ex-boyfriend, who has children with his current girlfriend, tried to have Bowman killed to keep her from having his child, the Royal Oak Daily Tribune reported.
