Regardless of the Ravens victory at Sunday night's Super Bowl – the real winner was none other than Beyonce.
A good chunk of tonight's viewing audience counted the minutes until the field cleared at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and Miss Bey takes the stage.
After suffering the indignity of lip-syncing (gasp!) at President Barack Obama's inauguration earlier this month, Beyonce has sworn that she will be performing live.
"I will absolutely be singing live [on Sunday]. I am well-rehearsed and I will be singing live. This is what I was born to do," she told MTV at a press conference on Thursday.
"Like I said, I've had a 16-year career and all of the things that I've done has prepared me for this. So I'm ready. I love haters. No shame, no hate."
Love her or hate her, Beyonce attracts media attention like no other. The fiasco over the lip-syncing controversy has generated even more buzz around her upcoming performance.
Not that Beyonce needed any help with publicity. As ABC News points out, Beyonce has the kind of star power that one hand gently placed on a baby bump generated the most tweets per second ever recorded for a single event at the time: 8,868 TPS at 10:35 p.m. on August 28, 2011 at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Beyonce herself gave away very little about what to expect from the halftime show but she did post a video saying how much the show meant to her, reports Mashable.
"I was on my way here and I was looking at the Superdome, and I felt very proud because I know this is my legacy," she says. "And I'm really happy it's in the South … It feels nice to be where my family is from — Louisiana. It feels like everything is coming back around full circle."
Two previous videos did show some dance moves that hint to what songs the pop star might perform during the game, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)," "End of Time" and "Run the World (Girls)."
