On Tuesday, Sept. 11, militants stormed the US Consulate in Benghazi where they killed four people, including Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens.

One day earlier riots erupted in the streets of Cairo over a movie that insults the Prophet Muhammad. 

What does this sudden outburst of violence mean for both the people of the Middle East and their relationship to the US?
