UK police seek Oompa Loompas in bizarre assault

British police are on the hunt for a group of people – two of them dressed as Oompa Loompas – who beat a man outside of a supermarket in the city of Norwich. 

Two males had orange painted faces and dyed green hair and were accompanied by a dark haired woman in a dress and a man wearing what the Telegraph newspaper describes as "conventional attire". 

The victim, 28, was reportedly approached by the bizarre group after leaving a kebab house next to a supermarket around 3:30am Thursday morning, reports NBC News. 

He was was pushed to the ground repeatedly and was left with two black eyes, a small cut to the nose and a cut lip, police said.

Police said they were unsure why the attackers were dressed like tiny chocolate workers.

“Perhaps they were taking part in a Christmas event. They may have been at a fancy dress party," a spokesperson for the Norfolk Constabulary told the Telegraph. “It is possible it is captured on CCTV but we are still looking for images." 

Oompa Loompas were first created by author Roald Dahl and appeared in the 1971 film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory". 

According to the Daily Mail, it's not the first time the fictional factory workers had a brush with the law. 

In 2009, a man dressed as an Oompa Loompa got into a brawl during a costume party in Devon, UK.
