Theresa Christian, missing Tulsa, Okla., woman, found alive in her freezer

After searching for a missing Tulsa, Okla., woman for days, relatives found the 59-year-old trapped in a deep freezer in her home yesterday, the Associated Press reported.

Family members said they believe she hid in the freezer because she was worried about the severe storms that hit Tulsa during the weekend, according to the AP.

Realizing that no one had talked to Christian since Saturday, her brother William Andy and his family searched the neighborhood and a nearby river and, on Tuesday night, walked through her apartment, CBS News reported. "Went through the apartment, called out her name; she didn't respond or anything," Andy told CBS News.

More relatives visited the apartment on Wednesday evening. "I was walking through the living room, and I heard her say, 'Help me, help me,' like that," Christian’s son Jermal Stewart told CBS News. "And I opened up the door, and she was sitting in there.”

Christian had frostbite on her legs, the AP reported. She’s currently at a Tulsa hospital, where she is listed in fair condition.

Police suspect Christian had trouble getting out of the freezer when the storms were over because her legs froze, the New York Daily News reported. Her son William Christian told the New York Daily News that he thinks she was “probably over-medicated” when she decided to climb into her freezer. “She's on a lot of medication,” he said.
