A member of the right-wing holds a Swedish flag as he demonstrates against a new mosque at Keillers Park in Gothenburg, southwest Sweden, on May 21, 2011. Around 100 people, many waving Swedish flags and wearing T-shirts with a red line drawn through a picture of the mosque, joined the right-wing demonstration against the building, which is set to be inaugurated next month, police said. At the same time, two separate left-wing marches in favour of the Islamic place of worship drew around 700 people, according to police, although organisers insisted the counter demonstrations attracted some 2,000-2,500 people. A 52-year-old professor in Stockholm, Sweden, who allegedly sliced off his wife's lower lip and ate it, has been officially charged with aggravated assault.
The man, who has not been named and is said to be a respected researcher at the Karolinska Institute north of Stockholm, also sliced his wife's arms in the attack, according to TheLocal.se, a Swedish news website. Prosecutors said he was upset with his wife when she asked for a divorce and flew into a jealous rage.
"He did it so that she would never be able to kiss again and said 'I'll get four years, but you're getting a life sentence,'" prosecutor Jakob Holmberg said, reported TheLocal.se.
GlobalPost previously reported on the incident in May, citing an earlier story by TheLocal.se as stating that the professor reportedly has several children from a previous marriage, and just a few weeks after divorcing his first wife married his current wife, a much younger woman.

According to Swedish site Aftonbladet, the professor had begun to suspect that his new wife was having an affair and had allegedly decided to punish her by disfiguring her.
"He didn't want the lips to be able to be sewn back on," said an unnamed source, explaining why he had eaten them, reported Agence France-Presse.
After the attack, the woman was moved to a secret location, according to TheLocal.se. Plastic surgeons have attempted to rebuild her lower lip, but said the injury is permanent.
If convicted, the professor faces a minimum sentence of four years in prison and a maximum of 10 years.
