Sheryl Crow during the Stagecoach Country Music Festival held at the Empire Polo Field on April 29, 2012 in Indio, California.
Sheryl Crow, the popular singer who used to date Lance Armstrong, cooperated with the federal agents last year that were investigating doping allegations against the cyclist, the New York Daily News reported. The paper does not reveal what exactly Crow said during her interview with federal agents.
But the Daily Mail points to an interview that Crow gave USA Today in 2005, in which she seems to slightly contradict her ex-boyfriend and former fiancee. At the time, French news reports had claimed to find tainted urine samples revealing that Armstrong used doping drugs. But Armstrong said those reports were wrong, and blamed the supposedly false information on simply French anti-Americanism. In a 2005 interview with USA Today, Crow defended the French people: "I don't think the French people are on a mission to strip him of his integrity."

But she also continued to defend Armstrong: "It's just a handful of people pursuing that theory, and it's tiresome and a nuisance, and it will eventually end, I hope," she told USA Today.
Crow's representatives declined to comment to the Daily News about her interview with federal agents. Food and Drug Administration criminal investigator Jeff Novitzky also would not comment, and neither would Armstrong.
