But residents of London have a unique chance to learn the technique's creative potential, thanks to the annual London Ice Sculpting Festival, a celebration of ice and all the expressive possibilities it affords.
The festival, which commenced its fourth year Friday, appeals to everyone from casual observers to world-renowned practitioners of the frozen art. Festival events range from beginners' classes to timed competitions among teams from around the globe.
