Sandy Hook anniversary: Grieving parents support ‘Sandy Hook Promise’ (PHOTOS)

Eleven families of Sandy Hook massacre victims came to the event one month after the shooting to give their support to Sandy Hook Promise, a new non-profit with the goal of preventing such tragedies in the future.
One month after the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., which left 20 children and 6 adults dead, parents gathered to pay tribute to the victims and to support a non-profit calling for dialogue.
"We have a responsibility to make something happen," said Tom Bittman, co-founder of Sandy Hook Promise, speaking at a press conference on Monday morning, according to ABC News. "We want Newtown to be remembered for change. We refuse to be remembered only for our loss. We want the shooting to be remembered as a turning point."
Meanwhile, a vote is supposed to take place on Monday night, to decide whether to name a school in Stratford, Conn., after one of the teachers slain in the shooting, NBC News reported. Victoria Soto, 27, died protecting her students and has been hailed a hero in the aftermath of the shooting.
