Ron Paul and Donald Trump feud (VIDEO)

Well, it was only a matter of time.

When ex-presidential candidate/real estate giant/reality star Donald Trump agreed to moderate another Republican debate scheduled for December 27, two Republican nominees said that they would boycott the event.

According to Bloomberg Businessweek, one was Jon Huntsman, and the other was Ron Paul.

Paul stated in a press release that allowing Trump to moderate the panel is "beneath the office of the Presidency and flies in the face of that office's history and dignity."

His campaign chairman, Jesse Benton, told ABC News that Trump is not only "wildly inappropriate," but his presence at the debate will "contribute to an unwanted circus-like atmosphere.":

“Mr. Trump’s participation as moderator will distract from questions and answers concerning important issues such as the national economy, crushing federal government debt, the role of the federal government, foreign policy, and the like.”

But today on an episode of Fox & Friends, Trump threw a rebuttal at Paul when he was asked about Paul's comments. Trump defended his role as moderator, saying it will probably bring in tremendous television viewership.

"Well I don't care [to continue the fight]," he said. "I mean look, Ron Paul's not going to win, he's got no chance. You have a better chance of winning if you're not running."

According to CNN, Trump also told NBC's "Today" that Paul was a "joke candidate" and was doing very poorly. The absence of both Huntsman and Paul, Trump said, will give "more air time to people that really have a chance at getting elected."

During his Fox & Friends interview, however, co-host Gretchen Carlson noted that Paul was second in Iowa.

Furthermore, ABC News reported that during a Conservative Political Action Conference held earlier this year, Trump again said Paul had no chance of winning the presidency. That is when "Paul shot back that he’s been elected in Texas 11 times—something Trump hasn’t even accomplished once."
