Poll: Voters say no to Hillary Clinton for NYC mayor

Despite her high approval rating as Secretary of State, a new poll shows Hillary Rodham Clinton is not popular choice for New York City mayor.

A new poll from Quinnipiac University shows 51 percent of New York City voters don’t think Clinton should run for mayor, while a statewide poll shows 58 percent say no to the secretary of state.

Clinton has said she will leave her State department post in Obama administration and there has been speculation she might run for New York City mayor or for president in 2016.

Politico reported Clinton has said "she is looking forward to returning to private life" but that her supporters want her to return to public office.

According to the New York Times, current mayor Michael Bloomberg has encouraged Clinton to run as his successor.

The Times reported that Bloomberg called Clinton a few months ago to make the suggestion, a sign of his "anxiety" over the current crop of candidates available to run the job in 2013.
