The 2013 Oscar Nominations were announced Thursday morning by actors Seth McFarlane and Emma Stone in an online broadcast — an announcement that marked the first time since 1972 that an Oscars host has released the list of contestants.
Nominations for the 85th annual Academy Awards, more popularly known as the Oscars, include foreign film candidates from Austria, Chile, Denmark, Canada and Norway.
Among this year's candidates were a record 71 foreign film submissions, the Associated Press revealed in October.

Thursday's nominations also included the youngest and oldest nominees in Oscars history: Emmanuelle Riva, 85, for her role in "Amour," and Quvenzhane Wallis, who was only 6 years old when she starred in "Beasts of the Southern Wild."
The announcements were made from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, which belongs to The Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences.
