MTV today named hit boy band One Direction its artist of the year for "plenty of reasons."
After listing all their chart-topping hits, MTV said the "real force behind One Direction is the Directioners," fans "who screamed, cried and sang along on One Direction's tour."
The mega-popular five-guy band had a record-setting year, with two No. 1 albums and a sold-out world tour, said the Associated Press.
The band's Louis Tomlinson called the award "the icing on the cake," said AP.
